Dictionary

Post by LittleBiG » Wed Mar 11, 2015 12:32 pm

I would like to ask for a dictionary improvement. I need to modify the actually looked up word in the dictionary window without leaving CoolReader. (Example: I have just searched for a word: mop-up. It wasn't in the dictionary. If I had been able to change the word deleting the -, I could have found the meaning because "mop up" was in the dictionary. So I had to close CoolReader, open Dictionary, write "mop up", then restart CoolReader...)
Maybe a new button which would offer the current word as default (like the Rename in case of files in the file manager) would do.

It's possible to do it. Will be implemented.

Great! Let me recommend an additional button called Save. This button would save the actually looked up word in the dictionary to a Notepad tab named by the book writer and title. Then it would be similar to the word collection on Kindle.

Sergey, please read my last idea to improve the dictionary. Because of many phrases and phrasal verbs in English, only 1 button could make to select them easier. The function of this button would be: extend the selection with one word (to the right). How easy would be to select a phrase with two or more words.

I use stardic which is chinese-chinese dictionary, but I can't select the Chinese character.
Is there a plan to improve it?

Seacat,

You just need to implement the Chinese keyboard layout. See kbd.txt file. Please create a new topic if you still have questions on that.

I use 4 dictionaries during reading. Is there a way to set a dictionary lookup order?

There is no way to change order for now. But I'll examine sdcv sources. May be some file naming rules will help.
